Terrain

Rives BFK, mud, rain water

This series was made by positioning printmaking paper onto rain-soaked asphalt and using my vehicle as both tool and collaborator. Working in this manner I surrender partial creative control to chance, weather, and the accumulated history embedded in pavement surfaces. The resulting impressions become archaeological documents of the street — recording not just the physical textures of asphalt and debris, but the fleeting moment when rain, pressure, and movement converge to create something entirely unplanned. These works explore themes of impermanence, urban decay, and the beauty found in overlooked spaces, while questioning traditional boundaries between studio practice and the chaotic environment of the everyday world.
